许久未见何英强了。他是我的朋友,怪想念他的。我第一次见他,是1977年秋天,在广州举行的全国第六届运动会上。那时,他在举重之乡石龙镇以133.5公斤的成绩,打破了56公斤级抓举世界纪录而声名大震。他的伙伴何灼强同样也打破了世界纪录,显得比他牛气多了,本来并不高的个子,偏偏要昂起头如廊庙之器哉,腾云驾雾般走,眼睛似乎长在脑门上,旁若无人一般神气。对比之下,何英强要谦虚随和得多。无论对任何人,他总是静静先听人家讲完话,然后微微笑着,说话不多却极有分寸。记得我当时曾对他讲起何灼强,他很客观却又不失友好地批评自己的伙伴:“他是有些过份!其实这只是一次全运会!”
