这次三峡工程论证领导小组(扩大)会议主题是审议可行性研究报告,是一次很重要的会议,我们湖北省委、省政府对这次会议很关注。会议开始,在听了长办王家柱总工程师介绍的《长江三峡水利枢纽工程可行性研究报告》(审议稿)之后,又认真地进行了阅读。几天来听了各位专家和老前辈们的发言,很受鼓舞。使我们了解到论证的结果是绝大多数专家肯定了三峡工程建比不建好。只有少数同志对早建比晚建好的结论有不同意见。我认为这个可行性研究报告在两年多

The theme of the Three Gorges Project Demonstration Leading Group (Enlarged) Meeting is to consider the feasibility study report. It is a very important meeting. We Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government are very much concerned about this meeting. After the meeting, after listening to the chief engineer Wang Jiazhu’s chief engineer’s report “Feasibility Study Report of Three Gorges Project” (draft for approval), he read carefully. A few days have listened to the speech of experts and predecessors, very encouraged. This led us to understand that the result of the demonstration is that most experts have affirmed that the Three Gorges Project is not built properly. Only a handful of comrades disagreed with the conclusion that early construction was better than late construction. I think this feasibility study is in more than two years
