Immunohistochemistry was used to observe the expression of bcl-2 and p53 protein in 45 cases of colorectal adenoma and 61 cases of colorectal adenocarcinoma. The results showed that there was no expression of bcl-2 and p53 in normal colorectal mucosa, but the positive rate of colorectal adenoma and colorectal adenocarcinoma was significantly higher than that in normal tissue (P<0.01). Bcl-2 expression in colorectal adenomas is located in the heavier areas of dysplasia. The expression of p53 in colorectal adenomas increased with the diameter of adenomas. The positive rate of ≥20 mm group was significantly higher than that of <10 mm group (p<0.05). The positive rate of p53 protein also increased with the increase of atypical hyperplasia. The expression of p53 is related to the differentiation of colorectal adenocarcinoma and the Dukes stage. The expression of bcl-2 and p53 protein was negatively correlated in colorectal adenomas. The results showed that the expression of bcl-2 protein has a certain significance on the proliferation of colorectal adenoma. p53 plays an important role in the progression of colorectal adenoma and the progression of colorectal adenocarcinoma.
