金县三十里堡公杜山咀大队有3,400亩水平梯田,其中梯田埂面积达378亩,占坡耕地的11.1％。他们在梯田埂上用棉槐、杏条、桑条等条材串带,不仅加强了梯田保持水土的作用,而且得到可观的副业收入。梯田埂条材串带在春天进行。在1.0～1.5米宽的梯田埂上串一趟带,在2米左右宽的梯田埂上串两趟带。每隔30～40厘米挖一个坑,每坑栽3～4株条材苗子(桑苗需嫁接或芽接)。据调查,梯田埂条材串带有如下效果:
