长江两岸的川鄂苏三省十六市于1990年10月下旬在湖北省宣昌市召开第八次科技协作年会,年会着重从沿江城市具有共同特征的角度,探讨长江流域的崛起,交流了依靠科技进步振兴发展长江流域经济的经验.会议组织了技术洽谈活动,推动了技术交流和成果转让.为了鼓励科技管理人员提高素质,年会还对提交会议的论文通过评委会进行评议,并进行奖励.
