NCRP 53 report “radioactive measurement method manual” was first released in 1978. The report has been substantively revised and the second version is now released. The third part of the book, “Basic or Direct Measurement of Activity at Radioactive Decay,” and Section IV, “Indirect or Comparative Measurement of Activity at Radioactive Decay,” have numerous supplements. The main part of the new material discusses liquid scintillation counting. The new section in Part 4 discusses the use of scintillation counting techniques for efficiency tracing. Another major (?) Supplement to the text greatly expands on Part VIII and adds a "measure of assurance
