Conference television will play an important role in the information age. There are indications that despite its slow start, it will enter the 1990s at a moderate rate. At present, such communication tools have been used for a variety of purposes, from global peaceful purposes until secular commercial talks. Big companies have set up centers to use this valuable new tool, and SMBs are slow and cautious when it is enabled. This article discusses all aspects of the currently commercialized videoconference, such as type, growth, pricing, ordering information, networking, digital codecs, and currently commercial packaged systems. It also discussed different issues and outlooks and gave a brief summary of the future.
