封面设计艺术有它自己的语言,有人说它的语言是抒情性质的,有人说它的语言是抽象性质的,也有人说它的语言是装饰性质的,我认为,这些说法不无道理,但太片面,书籍封面设计的语言除了它制作工艺的因素外,主要还是由这本书的内容决定的,特别是一些文字著作的封面设计,可以说是文学语言与绘画语言所结合成的一种特殊的语言。这次我在毕业设计中搞了一套新诗集封面,这是四本一套的抒情诗集,以往碰到的诗集多采用抽象的符号,这次我试图学习老前辈的经验,大胆寻找自己的语言,我感到一首诗情感抒发得尽善尽美的标志应该是自然的流露。当我读完《远》、《寒》、《沉》、《流》这四本诗集后,我发现这集诗所创造的美的意境是任何抽象的绘画语言无法代替的,我便用一根银灰的线条分割画面,然后剪了一组极富诗意而又带有绘画语言的摄影,用永恒的、真实的、自然的定格来体现出诗集特定的内涵。我想只有这样才能与要表达的东西紧密吻合,而且自然贴切。我们体会是:必须在把握和理解了这本书的内涵和风格的基础上,敢于打破别人贯用的手法,寻找最能表达自己感情而又最能符合书籍内容的语言,才能在设计中体现出自己的艺术追求。

I think the only way to be close to the things to be expressed, and naturally appropriate.
