中国科学院过程工程研究所前身是1958年成立的中国科学院化工冶金研究所。50多年来,研究范围逐步扩展到能源化工、生化工程、材料化工、资源/环境工程等领域,学科方向由“化工冶金”发展为“过程工程”。2001年更为现名。1988年,在我国生物学家和化学工程学家的联合建议与支持下,国家计委批准中国科学院过程工程所利用世界银行贷款筹建生化工程国家重点实验室。1995年,
