A symposium on diet and essential hypertension prevention was held in Kuopio, Finland from June 25 to 27, 1984. The conference was jointly organized by the International Federation of Cardiac Societies, the Epidemic Prevention Section, the International Hypertension Association, Kuopio University, the Finnish Ministry of Education and the World Health Organization. About 200 participants. The main purpose of the conference was to exchange the most up-to-date information on the relationship between food factors and hypertension and to exchange views among biomedical scientists, epidemiologists and clinicians interested in the diet’s primary prevention of hypertension.
