The spatiotemporal distribution of greenstone belts is a very important issue in the study of the geologic role of the Archean and its relation to metallogenesis. It is now pointed out that the 3.5 billion-year-old greenstone belts were mainly distributed in the Ysoua layer of Greenland and were basically not mineralized. The 3.5-3 billion-year greenstone belts, which are known as the old greenstone belts, The Pilbara block in the Western Australia shield, the Barberton Mountains in South Africa and parts of Zimbabwe; the so-called young greenstone rocks of 3 to 27 billion years are widely exposed in the Irgan block, the Lake Superior area, Pass, possibly with shields such as Brazil, India and the Baltic.
