Continued research on Smoothing Frequency Modulation (TFM) has led to an extension - called Generalized Smoothing Frequency Modulation (GTFM). The nature of GTFM is based on the possibility to choose a combination of different parameters that characterize the process by which the waveform is generated. Here again, it is considered to generate a constant envelope modulated signal having a spectrum like TFM, however, the bit error rate performance can be optimized for both coherent and non-coherent detection.
