我国政府于1997年7月1日对香港恢复行使主权,这是中华民族洗雪百年耻辱、阔步走向未来的一件彪炳史册的盛事,是邓小平同志“一国两制”伟大构想的光辉实践和完成祖国统一大业的良好开端.改革开放以来,南通同香港始终保护着良好的经济技术合作关系,推动了两地的共同发展.我们南通港同香港的经济技术合作也十分密切.我港曾数次派员参加由江苏省政府和南通市政府组织的赴港对外经济合作招商会,并于1985年9月开通了南通至香港国际集装箱班轮航线.1992年9月,我们又将两条港作拖轮出租到香港,为香港的港口拖带服务.同年还与香港一家公司成立了华腾国际代理公司.我港目前最大的合资项目——南通国际集装箱码头,也是与香港的一家大财团合资的,目前合作得非常愉快和顺利.香港的回归,为南通港进一步密切与香港的经济技术合作带来了新的历史性机遇,也提出了更高的要求.首先,长江流域作为中国经济最发达的地区,今后肯定会进一步加强同香港的经济联系,而作为长江重要门户的南通港,在为香港与长江流域中上游进出口物资中转运运输方面,将有我们更大的用武之地;其次,江苏作为我国经济发达省份,南通市作为经济发达的沿海城市,在香港回归以后将会进一步发展与香港的多层次、多领域、多途径的经济合作,而南通港作为江苏
