目前,焦炉炉体的主要问题,是炉头裂损,影响生产,影响炉体寿命的问题。炉头部位的寿命长短,是决定炉体寿命长短的主要因素之一。一般说来,一代硅砖炉头砌体使用寿命为5~10年,经修后炉头平均连续使用2~3年即须翻修更新一次,长者可达五年,短者不过一年。因此,要维护炉体,延长焦炉炉体寿命,主要方法之一,是采用一种耐热性能优越的材料,来代替目前广泛采用的硅砖砌筑炉头或翻修更换炉头。目前,热修炉头仍然用硅砖砌筑。用这种方法翻修炉头存在如下几个问题:(1)砖间接缝不紧密;(2)硅砖砌后受激热易产生裂缝;(3)施工不便。
