杨宪益、戴乃迭英译《红楼梦》的底本问题长期以来颇具争议,译者与审校者也曾先后做出过不同的说明。笔者此前根据对有正、庚辰、杨译三种版本的详细对照,辨明杨译本是以有正本为基础,参校庚辰本做出详细校订,结合二者之长形成的独特文本;本文再从篇章结构、文字存阙、行文细节等角度切入,论证杨译本与俞校本的不同,证实杨译本的中文底本并非俞校本,而是译者自行校勘、打磨拣选而成的文本。
The basic problem of translating “Dream of Red Mansions” by Yang Hsien-yi and Gladys N’Dianese has long been controversial, and translators and referees have also made different explanations. Based on a detailed comparison of the three versions of Zheng, Geng Chen and Yang, the author has identified the Yang translation as a unique text based on the original text and the detailed revision made by Geng Chen and the combination of the two. From the perspectives of the textual structure, the lack of text and the details of the text, this paper proves that the Chinese version of Yang’s version is not Yu school but rather the text collated and polished by the translator.
