The use of excess vitamin A, the most common toxic effects of sclerosing keratitis, retinitis, and skeletal deformation, damage to the kidneys and vitamin K-dependent prothrombin too little attention has drawn attention. This article reports 1 case of long-term oral vitamin A-induced hemochromatosis-like giant cell anemia. In July 1983, a 44-year-old male patient working in the Middle East developed severe pityriasis rosea. Dermatologists applied him topical prednisolone and took 150,000 IU daily of vitamin A. Within 3 weeks, the patient’s skin lesions subsided and steroids were discontinued. The expert advised him to continue taking small doses of vitamin A if they were to be sunbaked.
