文物考古资料的管理工作是一项非常重要的工作。他管理着的都是珍贵的原始资料和第一手资料。从田野发掘开始的工作记录、图纸、出土物登记、器物图、照片到后期整理工作中的绘图、拓片等等,这些都是不可更改的原始记录。随着文物考古事业的不断深入和发展、资料的不断积累和丰富,就需要一种更科学、更有秩的管理方法,将这些宝贵的资料进行整理、分类、保存和运用。做到尽量保护好这些原始珍贵的资料不遭到破坏和丢失的同时又能得到迅速而准确的查询、调阅、提取和利用。 在当今时代,随着计算机技术的普及以及计算机性能的大幅度提高,它以其运算速度快、计算精度高、存贮量大等特性,在各项研究领域中得到广泛的运用。
