Since the eighties of this century, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus has been gradually isolated in Japan. This bacterium is particularly detected in immunodeficiency patients, the elderly and infants. Nosocomial infections caused by this bacterium are also more common and recently tended to be resistant to multiple drugs. The majority of MRSA infections are caused by nosocomial infections. Therefore, the establishment of measures to prevent nosocomial infections is imminent. Epidemiological markers for the purpose of epidemiological investigation of MRSA include coagulase type, phage type, fingerprinting and other methods. As a method, it is preferable that it is economical and convenient, can be carried out at any time, and can perform type recognition on a variety of phenotypes obtained. Based on this point, Gillespie et al. Recently published a type identification method based on bacterial resistance to chemotherapeutic agents, disinfectants and heavy metal salts, which can be applied
