虎杖因种子寿命短,保存不易,繁殖上一直依赖分根繁殖。而夏季利用全光喷雾技术繁殖虎杖,给虎杖扩繁提供了良好途径。利用人工全光喷雾育苗床,由草炭土、河沙、蛭石以1∶1∶1比例配成基质,通过嫩枝扦插,配以严格的水分管理和合理的病虫害防治手段,能使每床出苗量5万~6万株,每年繁殖4~5次,大大提高了繁殖效率,为虎杖的大规模生产提供了育苗保障。
