20世纪所发生的事件远比过去数个世纪所发生的事件的总和都要多,影响也更为深远广泛。在传播媒介上的发展和更新速度之快也是前所未有的,这直接影响了艺术的发展,传统绘画受到了猛烈的冲击和挑战。一批思想各异、行动各异的现代主义艺术家们开始粉墨登场,艺术上“现代主义”概念触及西方各个领域。艺术家们对“现代”这一概念的把握和信条已趋痴迷,强烈的反传统意识给现代主义增添了许多的内涵,现代主义在此风尚之下已膨胀为一种完完整整的意识形态。
The events that took place in the twentieth century are far more than the sum of the events that have taken place in the past centuries and have far more extensive implications. It is also unprecedented in the development and updating of the media. This has a direct impact on the development of the arts, and the traditional paintings have been hit and challenged violently. A group of modernist artists with different ideas and different actions have begun to take shape and the concept of “modernism” in art touches every field in the West. The artists’ obsession with and belief in the concept of “modernity” has become increasingly obsessed. The strong anti-traditional consciousness has added many connotations to modernism. Modernism has swell into a complete consciousness form.
