This paper studies the distribution of POC in the East China Sea shelf waters in the spring and autumn of 1994. The horizontal distribution of the 0 and 10 m layers shows that the POC content of the coastal waters is the highest and declines to the outside, and the Kuroshio area is the low POC area. Affected by the runoff from the Yangtze River, the POC distribution was more evenly distributed in the off-shore water area. Fall POC contour line parallel with the shore and sea descending, which is controlled by land runoff, sea biological activities. The distribution of POC in spring showed a sign of water mass shift. The high POC value appeared in the sea area near the 406-408-411 station on the PN line, which coincided with the location of chlorophyll a in the superficial water. The vertical distribution shows that the coastal POC distribution is consistent because of the uniform mixing of upper and lower water bodies in shallow coastal waters. The POC in the deepwater offshore area shows a high surface layer and decays toward the bottom. The part of the water near the bottom is affected by the resuspension of the bottom sediment, and the POC content fluctuates slightly. The water POC content (in terms of carbon) between 20 and 35 m deep is between 60 and 40 μg / dm3. Continuous observations at two typical stations (111 and 410 stations) in the sea area showed that the highest POC content of the upper true euphratic layer in spring and autumn occurred at 24:00 in the middle of the night, while the chlorophyll a of surface seawater was at 18 : 00 The highest value appears. Obviously, the distribution of POC in water bodies is obviously influenced by the physical, chemical and biological activities in the sea area.
