劳伦斯·罗伯特·迪克西,1864年5月1日出生于英国伦敦,从小就生长在一个颇有艺术气氛的家庭里。1881年他在伦敦城市学院学习,曾先后跟随C·N·里德和温特沃思·H·普赖斯研修会计师业务,17岁便成为一名公司簿记员。1886年,迪克西经考试合格成为英格兰及威尔士特许会计师协会会员。然后,他在加的夫创建了自己的会计实业,同时在当地的技术学校讲授簿记学。1894年,他创建了塞拉斯——迪克西合伙会计师事务所。1902年,他被任命为英国伯明翰大学会计系主任。同年,他在伦敦经济学院担任兼职讲师。1902—1906年期间,迪克西担任伯明翰大学会计学教授,1919年起担任伦敦经济学院会计学及企业管理学教授,直到1926年退休止。1932年2月14日,一代会计大师迪克西不幸逝世,终年68岁。
Lawrence Robert Dixie, born May 1, 1864 in London, England, grew up in an artsy family. He studied at City College London in 1881 and was a graduate accounting advisor with CN Reid and Wentworth H. Price, becoming a corporate bookkeeper at the age of 17. In 1886, Dixie passed the exam and became a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He then founded his own accountancy firm in Cardiff, while teaching bookkeeping at a local technical school. In 1894 he founded the Silas-Dixie partnership. In 1902, he was appointed director of accounting at the University of Birmingham. In the same year, he was a part-time lecturer at the London School of Economics. During 1902-1906, Dixie served as a professor of accounting at the University of Birmingham and as a professor of accounting and business management at the London School of Economics since 1919 until his retirement in 1926. February 14, 1932, a generation of accounting master Dixie unfortunately passed away, at the age of 68 years.
