过去早在报上看到介绍,说《两宫皇太后》是继《垂帘听政》《火烧圆明园》后第三出『慈禧戏』出于对《垂》、《火》两片的倾慕,我去看了。不料看了后却使我非常失望,觉得它结构太过于松散,不如前两片激动人心。影片从同治(载淳)幼年登极、两太后(慈安慈禧垂帘听政写到同治死于梅毒,慈禧另立光绪为止,时间大约从一八六三至一八七四年,在这十多年内发生的大事很多,如曾国藩军镇压太平天国、捻军起义,太监安德海被杀,同治大婚等等,影片中都表现了。可惜的是,编导只是把每件事匆促叙述一下就放过,犹如串糖葫芦一样,缺乏一个贯串全剧的情节,给人印象不深。不错,这些事件中有个贯串全剧的人物——慈禧,作者通过慈禧对这些事件的处理,写出她逐步暴露野心的过程。但却过份囿于历史,未能进一步提炼。结果必然是使整个戏显得十分松散,每件事矛盾一展开就匆匆结束,缺乏高潮,不吸引人。
