The population density and abundance of Neophocaena phocaenoides asiaeorientalis in the Poyang Lake region during April and April of spring were investigated using the intercept sampling method. The population density of Neophocaena phocaenoides asiaeorientalis was estimated to be 0.1940 head / km2 and the estimated number is 388 . This paper discusses the feasibility and effectiveness of the cross-sectional sampling method for the investigation of shallow-water freshwater lakes and the issues to be noticed.
