Objective To investigate the relationship between Livin expression and histopathological parameters of colorectal cancer. Methods Totally 86 patients with colorectal cancer were enrolled in this study. Colorectal cancer (colorectal cancer) and paracancerous (paracancerous) specimens and 30 normal mucosa (control) specimens were collected for colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Livin Protein positive expression rate of colorectal cancer Livin protein expression was positively correlated with histopathological parameters of colorectal cancer. Results The positive rate of Livin protein in colorectal cancer group was significantly higher than that in control group (67.4% vs 20.9%, P <0.01). The expression of Livin in colorectal cancer group was significantly higher than that in control group (P <0.01). The positive expression rate of Livin in colorectal cancer group was significantly different between different degrees of differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P <0.05). The low expression rates of Livin protein in the moderately and well differentiated tissues and non-lymphatic metastasis tissues (92.3%, 86.4% , 80.0%) was significantly higher than that of high expression (7.7%, 13.6%, 20.0%) (P <0.05). The positive expression of Livin protein was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis and tumor differentiation in colorectal cancer (r = 0.693, P = 0.007; r = 0.398, P = 0.034). Conclusion The positive rate of Livin protein in colorectal cancer tissues is increased, and Livin protein may be involved in lymph node metastasis and tumor differentiation.
