为赵步唐教授的艺术风范写点儿文字、谈点多年来从师的心得,是我很早以前就曾有过的想法,但每每提起笔,头脑里万绪千头,竟又不知从哪里起手是好,一放,一年一年地过去了,感想固然很多,终未有一半点儿的文字出来,真是惭愧！ 是啊,一位奋斗了三十多年春秋,把自己的生命几将全幅交付于艺术的人,其作品,其艺术思想,岂在几个小时里作一两篇文章所能归结的。终日乾乾,功业既深,其内涵也必然弥笃弥深。王充说;“知物由学”。学养不深,是不能理解有些事物的,倘若硬着打量,知也毕竟不会很高,这也是我对赵步唐老师的画平日不敢妄加评说的一个原因。 五年前,当我携一叠叠习作拜见张仃老先生的时候,张老提起了赵步唐,说:“今年,在“王维研讨会”上,我见过他一幅写生长卷,真是好啊,我过去没想到陕西还有这么一位了不起的画家。”张老眉宇间之集

He said: “This year, at Wang Wei’s seminar, I have seen him write a book and it is really good. Ah, I did not expect such an amazing painter in Shaanxi in the past. ”
