This article describes a low-cost signal conversion circuit that converts a FM signal to a digital signal. The circuit consists of a zero-crossing detector and a series of monostable circuits and D flip-flops (see Figure 1). The zero-crossing detector detects the zero crossing of the input FM signal and converts it to a TTL-compatible voltage pulse, which is then fed into the monostable circuit and D flip-flop.
