公共新闻运动以1988年的美国总统大选为契机,针对民众对政治与媒体的疏离、报纸发行量长期下滑以及美国公共生活的衰退,在新闻界内部自发进行了一系列改革。公共新闻运动主张媒体应改变传统的角色和功能定位,以一种积极的姿态将民众带入公共生活,完善共同体的民主自治。这场运动对美国社会和新闻传播业的发展起了非常重要的推进作用,并产生了广泛的国际影响。
The public news campaign took the opportunity of the 1988 presidential election in the United States and conducted a series of spontaneous reforms within the press aimed at alleviating the public’s alienation of politics and media, the long-term decline in newspaper circulation and the decline of public life in the United States. The public information campaign advocates that the media should change its traditional role and function orientation and bring the public into public life with a positive attitude and improve the community’s democratic autonomy. The campaign played a very important role in promoting the development of American society and the media and has had a wide range of international influences.
