Necessity and contingency are the major problems that always exist in the history of philosophy. This essay traces back the previous theoretical research on the two, expounds the scientific analysis of the connotation and the dialectical relationship between necessity and fortuitity by Marx and Engels, and the guiding significance of this category to the present world.
