擦擦是藏传佛教特有的一种艺术形式,指的是一种模制的小型佛像、佛塔等。它是从古印度石板塔腹内置放圣物的装藏风俗演变而来,以凹型模具填入湿泥等材质,压制成型脱范而成。这种制作手法决定了擦擦的体积一般都不大,从目前所见来看,大不过盈尺,小的仅和拇指甲差不多,微巧精妙,让人爱不释手。藏传佛教具有强烈的实践主义倾向,全民信教的藏族人民把他们与生俱来的无比虔诚和聪明才智都倾注到佛教艺术品的制作中去,态度严肃认真,视同神圣,绝无敷衍应付之作。因此,擦擦虽小,但大都制作精美、造型严谨、刻画微妙,称得上是微型的雕刻艺术珍品。
