First, the source of fat sea and the introduction of the history of Chinese medicine when the fat sea into China can not be tested. Both the “Boots of Materia Medica” (1116 AD) and the “Compendium of Materia Medica” (1596) did not describe the fat sea. There are no records in both the “Herb Medicine Herbal” and “Hu Bencao” books, and there is no sufficient documentation to confirm it. Among the existing ancient books, the earliest description of the fat sea was written by Zhao Xuemin in the Qing Dynasty, “A Supplement to the Compendium of Chinese Materia Medica” (1765). The book is very detailed about the form and origin of the fat sea herbs, and there are also fair discussions about its medicinal properties and efficacy. “Compendium of Materia Medica”: "The fat sea is out of the Annam Dadong mountain, and it is produced in the shade. It is pure and yin, so it can cure the fire of the Six Sutras. The name of the native people is called the Annanzi. It is also known as the big hole fruit, which resembles the dried fruit. The color is black and yellow, wrinkles, blister, layers swell as floating algae.” According to Chen Renshan’s Drug Discovery (1930):
