The BRIC countries refer to the four major countries of Brazil, Russia, India and China. The words “BRIC” made up of the initials of the four countries are very similar to English “bricks”, so the four countries are called “BRICs.” In 2001, Jim O’Neill, chief economist of Goldman Sachs, first proposed the concept of “BRIC countries.” In 2003, O’Neill predicted in a research report titled “Dream Together” with the BRIC countries that the world economy will reshuffle by 2050 and that the BRIC countries will surpass those of the United Kingdom , France, Italy and Germany, together with the United States and Japan, become one of the six new economies in the world. After the report of Goldman Sachs was issued, the concept of “BRIC” thus became popular all over the world. In recent years, the rapid rise of the BRIC economies has also had an impact on the world economy.
