An n-p-n common emitter stage forms a common-load resistor with a unity-gain exciter for a p-n-p emitter follower. It provides a high input impedance, low output impedance and a low current consumption circuit. Its 3dB bandwidth above 80MHz, and by choosing the best resistance so that features can also be widened. Note that reducing the lead inductance and distributed capacitance will also improve the line performance. Current consumption is about 1mA at 10V supply. This line can operate at 3-30V without degrading the characteristics, which is important for choosing the correct input bias resistor since the input impedance will be reduced.
