In Canada, heap leaching technology has been hampered by prejudice and climate problems. However, Palmer was a giant step toward that in 1986. The company’s new No. 3 open pit mine in Timmins, Ontario, produces large quantities of low-grade gold ore during the mining operation. If it is not cost-effective to transport it to the existing 3,000 mt / day mills for the existing smelter or expansion of No. 1 mines, it is envisaged that a 10,000-ton pilot reactor will be constructed. The stack serves both as a test result to validate the early Witck laboratory and as a viable northern heap leaching technology in Ontario
