1935年的潘光旦在清华教务长任上,严守校规,不徇私情。一次安徽省主席刘镇华写信给他,想让两个儿子到清华旁听,他婉拒:“承刘主席看得起,但清华之被人瞧得上眼,全是因为它按规章制度办事,如果把这点给破了,清华不是也不值钱了吗?”
