多少年前在书坊中走动,曾经劝说一些上了年纪的书友,如郭石麒、杨寿祺、孙实君等,抽闲将他们肚子里的书林掌故写下来,可是始终没有结果。随着他们的离去,这计划也终于成了泡影,觉得是难以弥补的损失。过去我们只知道有《书林清话》这样的书,是通论古今典籍聚散板本流别、藏书掌故的,可惜的是对近代的史实着墨不多。叶昌炽的《藏书纪事诗》也一样,为了补救这缺失,后来又出现了伦明、徐绍棨、王謇、吴则虞等人的“续补”,这些以诗为主的“纪事诗”,
