经中华人民共和国商务部、中国人民银行批准,由中国金币总公司、中国印钞造币总公司和中国钱币博物馆联合主办的2013北京国际钱币博览会,定于2013年10月11日-13日在国家会议中心举行。本届博览会是我国举办的第十八届大型国际及相关衔生产品的专业盛会,主办方在展会现场将开展钱币文化、中国贵金属纪金币的宣传和推广,并为各参展机构及商家提供一个展示精品、销售产品、交流信息、拓展业务的优质平台。据介绍,展会上将举办“最受群众喜爱的2012年中国贵金属纪念币”评选活动揭晓仪式、第二届金色文化艺术大赛颁奖典礼、钱币精品拍卖会、国际造币论坛、钱币学术研讨会、金银币品鉴会、收藏文化论坛等特色活动。为纪念我国首次举办国际钱币博览会,中国人民银行自1995年开始发行以国际(邮票)钱币博览会为主题的熊猫加字纪念银币,其后每届博览会均发行1枚,并由此形成系列。从2007年开始,中国人民银行对北京国际博览会纪念银币单独立项,币面主图选择东、西方钱币文化中各个历史时期具有代表性的钱币来反映并勾勒历代钱币的发展历程。为纪念2013北京国际钱币博览会的举办,保持该系列纪念币发行
