这是一间温馨的老式书房,一个男孩身体前倾,后面是深色的背景,但是如果仔细观察便会发现,男孩的脸和手用色大胆、明亮。马奈在后来创作的《吹短笛的男孩》中也采用了相同的技法。

This is a warm, old-fashioned study where a boy leans forward with a dark background behind, but a close observation reveals that the boy’s face and hands are bold and bright. Manet also used the same technique in the later “Boys Playing Piccolo”.
