Compaq公司在强大的8处理器对称多处理(SMP)系统的推动下,将成为明年首批推出新款PC服务器的几家厂商之一。在本届Comdex展会上,Corollary公司、现代电子美国(HEA)公司和集成商业计算机(IBC)公司都分别展示了基于Intel公司Pentium Pro的8处理器系统技术。据悉,Compaq正在讨论购买Corollary公司基于Profusion总线的技术专利。Profusion将3条Pentium Pro总线与两个主存储器子系统结合在一起,为存储器和I/O控制器提供两条64位通道。三星电子和日立公司在它们的未来系统中也将采用Profusion技术。
Driven by the powerful 8-processor symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) system, Compaq will be one of the first to launch several new PC servers by next year. At this Comdex show, Corollary, Hyundai Electronics America (HEA), and Integrated Commercial Computer (IBC) companies each showcase 8-processor system technology based on Intel’s Pentium Pro. It is reported, Compaq is discussing the purchase of Corollary’s Profusion bus-based technology patents. Profusion combines three Pentium Pro buses with two main memory subsystems to provide two 64-bit channels for memory and I / O controllers. Samsung Electronics and Hitachi will also use Profusion technology in their future systems.
