The rail transit system in Shanghai has undergone major changes since April 2000, implementing “four separate” investment, construction, operation and supervision to meet the needs of the extraordinary development of rail transit and the development of the industry. This article discusses the effects, working interfaces and trends since the new system was put into operation.
