无锡市图书馆原名无锡县立图书馆，建于1912年，是中国最早创建的公立公共图书馆之一。主体建筑钟楼为当时无锡境内最高建筑，大自鸣钟为全邑校时标准，曾被作为无锡标志。至1996年，该馆藏书总量达105万册，其中古籍305658册，古籍中有善本书1139种21630册，如《真定奏疏》、
