开鲁县地处内蒙古自治区东部，气候寒冷，为了发展苹果矮化密植栽培，由河北省围扬县克勒沟林场引进抗寒矮化砧木ＧＭ２５６，以山丁子做基砧，ＧＭ２５６做中间砧，高接大中小型苹果品种１１个，对其亲和力，抗寒力，致矮作用，早果性、丰产性，抗逆性适应性和影响果实品质的能力进行全面试验，经过５年观察，初步结果表明：ＧＭ２５６是一个致矮作用明显，其它性状优良，抗寒力很强的苹果矮化砧木，适宜我内蒙北部地区的气候条件，为我县及适宜地区大力推行苹果矮、密、早、丰栽培，提供了广阔前景。
