2001年3月,上海市启动了百所中等职业学校重点建设工程:2003年底,绝大部分学校基本完成建设任务。该工程重在全市层面上整体推进学校的建设,每个区县和行业重点办好一所中等职业学校,由区县和行业统筹所属全日制中等专业学校、职业学校、技工学校和成人中等专业学校等的教育资源,突出学校布局和专业结构的调整,优化教育资源配置,改善和提高中等职业学校的整体办学条件和办学水平,推进中等职业教育与其他各类教育协调发展。这是继上海市全面建成十所现代化标志性中等职业学校后的又一力举。
