临床上有许多理由可以说明老年人的机体免疫防御效能是较低的,他们的感染率和死亡率都较高,所以,感染就成为老年人的一个突出的临床问题。本文所提及的仅仅是老年免疫活力减退与多种感染的关系。众所周知,癌的发病率随年龄而急剧增长。人们认为,免疫系统有两个环节在控制癌症上起了重要的作用:首先,它能防止禁忌细胞株的发展;其次,它能灭杀癌细胞。因而,随着增龄,兔疫系统功能下降可能是癌的发病率随之上升的原因。
