一九五○年,我从《苏南日报》调苏南文联筹委会。当时由冯雪峰主持在上海建立的鲁迅研究机构来调王士菁。王是第一部《鲁迅传》的作者。我是去填王的空档的,从此认识了吴白匋教授。他在苏南文教学院教书,在文联是副主任兼研究部长。这个部抓业务,他参与戏曲工作,我和亚明是副部长,一负责文学、一负责美术。王与吴接近,是向他了解台静农及台与鲁迅的关系和“未名社”情况。他与台是抗战时期白沙女子文理学院的同事,颇有交情,连带他也敬重鲁迅。至于他的来文联,主要原因,是他熟悉戏剧,积极帮助无锡整理一个流传农村、不为人知的反霸的幕表戏:《倪黄狼》。写成剧本,卓著成效。于是由筹委会主任吴天石举荐来文联兼职。
