2007 is the 80th anniversary of the third armed uprising of Shanghai workers. In December 1926, Zhou Enlai, then secretary of the Central Organization Department and member of the Central Military Commission, left Guangdong and secretly came to Shanghai. In February of the following year, he served as the secretary of the Military Commission of the CPC Shanghai Committee. Shortly afterwards, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China appointed him as Shanghai Workers’ Three armed insurrection commander, and made an indelible historical contribution to the triumph of the uprising. The story of Zhou Enlai and Huang Yifeng, the third armed uprising in Shanghai Workers, with some little-known historical materials reflects the touching story of the commander-in-chief Zhou Enlai and grassroots commander Huang Yifeng who fought side by side.
