A ytterbium-doped fiber laser with a reflectance of 15dB Yb-doped fiber grating as a reflector produces a stable nanosecond-level pulse sequence with a pulse width of less than 5ns. The laser has a threshold power of 18 mW, a maximum output average power of 3 mW in the mode-locked region, a pulse repetition frequency of 25 MHz and an energy conversion efficiency of 5%.
