谷子是昭盟地区的主要作物,历年播种面积350—550万亩,占粮食作物面积的35—45%。但单产低,影响全盟粮食总产的提高。1968—1977的二十年间平均单产只有116.4斤。丰收的1970年,平均单产达168斤,而春早和秋低温的1972年,平均单产仅45.5斤,仅相当丰产年产量的36.9%,这说明昭盟地区的谷子不仅单产低,而且产量很不稳定。
Millet is a major crop in the Zhao League area. The annual sown area is 350-550 mu, accounting for 35-45% of the area of food crops. However, the low yield hit the alliance’s overall food production. The average yield of 1968-1977 during the two decades was only 116.4 kg. In 1970, the average yield reached 168 pounds.
