FK506 and Rapamycin are produced by Str.tsuku-baensis and Streptomyces hygroscopicus, respectively. The significance of these two antibiotics is that they play an important role in organ transplantation and autoimmunity. FK506 has been shown to be effective in liver, kidney and pancreas transplants in early clinical trials. In the Pittsburgh FK506 successfully used in 14 cases of liver transplant patients, no case of rejection. In addition, in the same study, no rejection was seen in patients undergoing kidney and pancreas transplantation. The larger 36 cases of renal transplantation also confirmed the effect of FK506, only 0.15mg / kg low dose can be effective. To date, the FK506 clinical trial has been widely used
