By the end of 2003, the number of private-owned enterprises in the province was 323,000, an increase of 24.9% over the same period of last year; that of individual-industrial and commercial households was 1,885,000, an increase of 5.8% over the same period of last year. The non-state-owned economy achieved a GDP of 450.791 billion yuan, an increase of 11.4% over the same period of previous year, accounting for 33.5% of the province’s total output value.
